![]() Our mission remains to influence the lives of our neighbors who are most in need. And we continue to depend on the generosity of supporters who share their financial resources with us-and become stewards of a mission more than a century old. The Volunteers of America history is woven of many individual stories-personal tales told through the experiences of the millions of lives weve touched as well as those who have helped us serve them. As we move onward, we invite you to become a very special part of that history, leaving a legacy through your personal financial commitment to Volunteers of America. |

| Long Time
Volunteer Deepens his Commitment to our Community Since 1896, Volunteers of America has depended on the generosity of friends who not only give of their time and talents, but who also offer financial contributions. Jerry is one of those friends. He started volunteering for Volunteers of America in 2000. A retired civil engineer, Jerry had time to help us fulfill our mission of providing essential services to our most vulnerable neighbors. After retirement I was looking for volunteer work that would do some real good. He started delivering Meals on Wheels and currently delivers two routes each week. Through his volunteer commitment he has come to know the frail, homebound seniors who depend on the hot, nutritious meals that he delivers to their homes. He points out For many of them, Im the only person they see all day. |
Last year Jerry was
discussing his volunteer experience with a friend who asked him if he had provided for Volunteers of America in his estate plan. It had not occurred to him to do so, but knowing first hand the importance of those meals to the seniors who receive them, Jerry decided to name Volunteers of America as an heir of his estate. He has designated his future gift be utilized for the Meals on Wheels Program. In doing so, his legacy of caring for his neighbors will continue even after he is gone. Jerry understands the importance of the work that we do together. He has a desire to serve his community and has taken the next step to make sure that our work continues well into the future. Jerry, on behalf of the isolated seniors who benefit from your generosity, we thank you for your volunteer effort and your financial support. |
