a continuum of care and opportunity to enhance the quality of
life for the older citizens
of Larimer County.

Sanctuary Apartments |
| |
Volunteers of America has built lovely, one bedroom affordable
apartments for people who are 62 years of age or older who meet
the income requirements. The 60 unit Section 202 Sanctuary
Apartments complex is located at 3720 Kunz Court (formerly 1401
West Horsetooth) in Fort Collins.

Foster Grandparent Program |
| |
The
Volunteers of America Foster Grandparent Program helps develop
intergenerational bonds by bringing together youth and older
adults. Foster Grandparents are 60 or older, live on fixed
incomes and enjoy working with children. In return for serving
20 hours per week in Larimer County schools and child care
centers. Foster Grandparents receive the following benefits:

A non-taxable $212 monthly stipend which does not affect
OAP,
Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security or subsidized housing
Paid time off, holidays and training
Transportation reimbursement
Supplemental volunteer insurance

Seniors Dining Centers |
| |
Volunteers of America Seniors'
Nutrition Program has provided hot nutritious meals at dining
centers throughout Larimer County since 2000. Currently we
operate in 11 dining centers providing food, access to community
resources, and positive social interaction to persons 60 years
of age or older.
There is no charge for any of the services provided, however, a
$2.50 donation is suggested per meal. To make a reservation at
one of the sites below please call 970-472-9630 by 1:30
p.m. the business day before you would like to attend.

Meals on Wheels |
| |
The
Volunteers of America Meals on Wheels Program delivers frozen
meals to residents of Larimer county. Each package contains a
complete meal that can be easily heated in the oven
or microwave and provides at least one-third of the recommended
daily nutrients for older adults. Program services also include
nutrition education and information and assistance in accessing
other services available to the homebound elderly.
To qualify as a participant, an individual must be:
60 years of age or older
Homebound or geographically isolated
A disabled homebound dependent of an eligible
participant
An eligible participant's spouse
A volunteer in-home caregiver or volunteer respite
provider of an
eligible participant.
Participants do not pay for the meals, but are asked to
contribute toward the cost of the meals. The current requested
contribution is $2.50 per meal. No one is denied service because
of an inability to make a contribution." |

Retired
and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) |
| |
The
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers personalized
volunteer placement to adults age 55 and over, drawing upon
their lifetime experience, skills and interests to provide
needed support to non-profit agencies throughout Larimer County.
RSVP Volunteers:
Are over 55 years of age
Can volunteer a few hours every week
Enjoy working with others to solve community problems
What do RSVP Volunteers do?
Make a difference by helping non-profits in areas such as:
Tutoring/mentoring children and families
Trail clean-up and nature hike guides
Meal delivery, sewing, minor home repairs and companionship
Income tax preparation and Medicare counseling, special events
Working with law enforcement, emergency services and
homeland security·
and much more.

Handyman Program |
| |
The goal of the
Volunteers of America Handyman Program is to enable elderly and
disabled residents to live independently in their own homes.
Handyman volunteers perform simple repairs and home maintenance
such as:
Install grab bars and handrails
Install chair platforms
Build wheelchair ramps
Minor carpentry work
Install carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors
Install 911 locator lights
Replace light bulbs
Attend to possible safety and security concerns.
Recipients of this service are responsible only for the price of
materials. Donations are accepted. |

Caring Companions Program |
| |
A
Caring Companion provides friendly companionship to a homebound
senior,enabling their family to take a break. A volunteer
visits with the homebound senior two hours per week.

Youth Mentor Program |
| |
Volunteers of America Youth Mentor Program is a an initiative
that partners volunteers with at-risk youth. Volunteers share
life experiences, teach new skills, and make a difference in the
life
of a youth |
| |
Grocery Shopping Program |
| |
Volunteers shop and deliver groceries once per week for those
who cannot shop for themselves. The program is available in the
communities of Fort Collins and Loveland.
