Northern Colorado Home Northern Colorado Services Northern Colorado Volunteer Opportunities
Northern Colorado Volunteers of America's Caring Companion program is a non-medical service that offers relief for family caregivers and friendship for care recipients. The program provides a great opportunity for care recipients to share their stories and interests with someone new who is there just to visit.
Volunteers visit with the recipient in the recipient's home on a regular schedule that is agreeable to the volunteer and the caregiver and recipient. Generally, volunteers visit weekly for approximately two hours. All volunteers complete an interview and orientation process.
If you are interested in being matched with a Caring Companion volunteer, contact the program coordinator for a home visit. The coordinator matches the caregiver and care recipient with a trained, screened volunteer who lives in their community and is available on the preferred days and times. There is no fee for this service, although donations are accepted.
Care recipients must be age 60 or older, able to be without medical care and restroom assistance for the duration of the volunteer's visit, be non-violent, and live in Larimer County.
