Northern Colorado Volunteers of America formed a youth mentoring coalition in 2006. The coalition consists of six mentoring organizations committed to raising awareness of the need for mentors and to recruiting and retaining high-quality mentors for children and young adults in Larimer County.
How Mentoring Helps
At its most basic level, mentoring guarantees a young person that someone cares about him or her.
The Need
Hundreds of children are waiting for mentors in Larimer County. Volunteers of America and the Larimer County Youth Mentoring Coalition are seeking mentors for youth in our community. Our goal is to make it easy for people to find mentoring opportunities with the best mentoring programs in the area.
The Opportunities
Our mentors say that mentoring is one of the most flexible and satisfying volunteer options available. We have a variety of opportunities ranging from one hour a month to 20 hours a week. We have opportunities for one-on-one mentoring, group mentoring, and activity mentoring. We can find the perfect mentoring opportunity for you!
How to Get Involved
Join us in celebrating the positive impact that mentoring can have on children and youth. Our outreach program includes informational meetings open to the public. Mentors and Mentees will be available for questions.
We focus attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities, and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors and assure brighter futures for our young people.
