Adopt a Family
Adopt a Family Holiday Program
All donor drop offs and family pick ups will take place at:
1247 Santa Fe Dr. Denver, CO 80204
Both the Adopt A Family Adoption List and the Adopt A Family Donor List are full. Thank you for your support during the holidays.
Every holiday season Volunteers of America's Adopt-A-Family program provides Christmas gifts for more than 400 struggling families. These are primarily families enrolled in our programs (transitional and permanent affordable housing, shelters, early childhood education, etc.), but also families that come to us through KOSI 101 radio listeners and other community referrals. Donors interested in adopting a family, small or large, are matched with a family that meet the requested “Family Gift Profile” or simply known as “wish list." The Family Gift Profile identifies the family members' gender, ages, and sizes along with several gift ideas supplied directly by the family members themselves. A general guideline for gift values is $50 or less for each family member. The donor shops for the gifts, tags them, and delivers them to a designated Volunteers of America location on the appointed day (usually mid December). Adopted families and donors remain anonymous to protect their confidentiality.
The Adopt A Family Donor List is Full.
If you are a family looking to be adopted for the 2013 holiday season, we will begin our registration on TUESDAY, November 5th, 2013. To begin the registration process, please click the registration link below, or call us at 303-297-0408 ext. 13166 and leave a message with your name and phone number. You can expect to hear back from us as soon as possible, at which time we will assist you in filling out your family wish list and registering for the 2013 Adopt-A-Family program. Please do not call early, as we will not be accepting messages or registering families until November 5th. For any additional questions concerning the Adopt-A-Family program, please refer to “Family FAQs” in the “Resource” section below. Thank you! Similar to adopting a family, donors can make a grander impact and Adopt-A-Program within the Volunteers of America Colorado Branch. Often times, groups like churches, schools, and businesses choose to fulfill the wishes of the different programs that serve equally deserving individuals and families on a daily basis. Each participating program completes a “Program Wish List” for items they typically don’t have funds for. The group matched to the program shops for the items and delivers them to a designated Volunteers of America location on the appointed day (also in December).
Either of the two opportunities provide for a wonderful way to experience the joy of giving during the Holiday season. The Adopt-A-Family and Adopt-A-Program gift giving occasions make the holidays a truly joyous time for many families and programs who would not otherwise know such joy. You can significantly impact the holidays, yours and others, by giving through the Holiday Projects Program.
For any additional questions, please visit the “Resource Section" found below, or contact the Holiday Projects Coordinator directly at 303-297-0408 ext. 13105 or firstname.lastname@example.org. To sign up to be a donor right now, click the link to the Donor Inquiry form below.
