Max Martinez,
owner
of MAX clothing store in Cherry Creek and Boulder, hosts
this annual
fashion show to raise badly
needed funds for the Volunteers of America's Brandon Center
for
battered women and their children.
The Volunteers of America (VOA) Brandon Center is
Colorado's largest shelter for
battered women and children. It provides
emergency shelter, meals and support
services to approximately 1000
women and children, annually. The Brandon Center
is a 90 bed facility located in west Denver. Each resident family at
Brandon Center receives an individual sleeping room; three meals and two
snacks per day; enrollment
in a children's program; individual counseling
and case management; group support and educational sessions on domestic
violence, parenting and other vital issues; and on-site GED tutoring. The
center provides the opportunity for each woman to develop short and
long-term goals that will assist her in taking steps toward
self-sufficiency. |
