The
Volunteers of America Meal on Wheels Program serves
Adams, Arapahoe, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Gilpin and Jefferson
counties. Each meal consists of an entrée and the accompaniments
(vegetables, fruits, breads, milk, etc.) needed to provide at least
one-third of the recommended daily nutrients for older adults. The
meals are low in fat, cholesterol and sodium, and provide the
nutrients
older adults need without the additional calories. |
| Program services also
include nutrition education and information and assistance in
accessing other services available to the homebound elderly. |
| Eligibility |
| To qualify as a
participant, an individual must be: |
• 60
years of age or older
• Homebound
• A disabled homebound dependent of an eligible participant
• An eligible participant’s spouse
• A volunteer in-home caregiver or volunteer respite provider of an
eligible participant. |

| Contribution Requested |
Participants do not pay for the meals, but are asked to contribute
toward the cost of the meals. The current requested contribution
is $2.50 per meal. No one is denied service because of an inability
to make a contribution |
| Volunteers Deliver the Meals |
Volunteers of America
Meals on Wheels depends on volunteers to
deliver the meals to the homes of program participants. If you would
