WHAT:
The Volunteers of America RSVP provides individuals 55 years of age
the opportunity to stay socially active and productive through
meaningful volunteer activities and to provide nonprofit and public
agencies with effective volunteer support.
WHERE:
RSVP works with about 80 nonprofit agencies throughout Denver,
western Arapahoe, and Douglas counties. Partner agencies vary widely
to offer diverse volunteer opportunities. Examples include:
hospitals, food banks, senior centers, youth programs, literacy
projects, museums, schools, animal shelters and much more.
WHO:
Volunteers are adults (55+) who want to share their experience
and skills with nonprofit agencies and who serve in Denver, western
Arapahoe, and/or Douglas counties. The roster currently numbers

WHY:
RSVP is people helping people. RSVP offers older individuals a
chance to try something new, do things they may have always wanted
to do or continue using their life experience for their community.
RSVP provides support and assistance to agencies in their efforts to
best serve the community.
HISTORY:
RSVP was launched in 1971 as a locally directed, but federally
legislated grant program. The Corporation For National and Community
Service oversees all RSVP projects. Nationwide, there are over 850
RSVP projects, with over 500,000 volunteers donating more than 80
million hours of service. The Volunteers of America has been the
local sponsor of RSVP since 1981.
JOIN:
RSVP membership is free and is available to any individual aged 55
and better.

The Volunteers of America is a private, human services agency that
operates more than 30 distinct programs in Colorado. RSVP is one
of those programs.
