Helping America's Most Vulnerable

Family Motel

housing individuals and families in emergency situations

4855 West Colfax
Denver, CO 80204

The Family Motel works with the Denver Department of Human Services to form a motel atmosphere with a human services flavor. A continental breakfast is offered to all guests every day.

The Volunteers of America Family Motel served 5,067 people in 2016. The Motel is fully operational and maintains 40 rooms for families and individuals specifically for use by the Denver Human Services. The Motel reserves 30 rooms for families and single women who receive a voucher from the City of Denver for up to a 21-night stay. A second component includes 10 “respite rooms” with two men or women in each room. Working closely with DHS Adult Protective Services, a homeless man or woman may be referred by a medical provider following a hospital stay. The length of stay depends on the time needed to recuperate.
