Volunteers of America’s Western Fantasy Announces Co-Chairs for 2015

DENVER- Western Fantasy returns to celebrate its 22nd year on Saturday, October 10th, at the National Western Events Center. With husband and wife team Faye and Dr. Reggie Washington at the helm, the 22nd year will continue the tradition of raising money for Volunteers of America and having a fabulous gala with amazing entertainment.

Faye Washington is a Denver philanthropist and community leader. Faye, originally from Texas, graduated from Lamar University with a BA in Sociology. Her human interests have led her to volunteer for the American Heart Association (AHA), Denver Center Alliance, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Junior League of America, Central City Opera, and Colorado Ocean Journey. She has served as event chair for the AHA Fashion Show, AHA Grand Prix Gala, AHA Heart Ball, 25th Anniversary Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, the Kaleidoscope Ball for Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, and the New Year’s Eve Gala for the Denver Center for Performing Arts. Faye is the current Secretary of the Board of Directors of Volunteers of America and has served on the Western Fantasy Steering Committee for 11 years.

Dr. Reginald Washington is the Chief Medical Officer of the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver. In addition, Dr. Washington is the Past President of the Medical Staff as well as Past Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. He currently serves on the Boards of The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, The Helen Bonfils Foundation, The Temple Buell Foundation, LiveWell Colorado, and the National Board for Action for Healthy Kids (Current Chairman). Dr. Washington is the Chairman of the National Advisory Council for the National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality (NICHQ) and is a past Board member of The Colorado Trust and The Colorado Children’s Campaign. He was voted one of the best Pediatric Cardiologist in Denver by 5280 magazine for 11 years, Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Pediatrician (Pediatric Cardiology) by the Consumer Research Council, and the Denver Business Journal’s Champions in Health Care. He was a finalist for Surgeon General of the United States in 2006.

In 1994 founders Sharon Magness-Blake and Jean Galloway conceived this event, a Western-style elegant gala featuring top country music entertainment for Denver's country music fans. The event is the signature fundraiser for Volunteers of America's programs aimed to assist most vulnerable neighbors.
