A Place of Hope, Healing, and Opportunity
For many in our community, the Mission is more than a place to turn, it is a place where hope begins again.
For more than a century, Volunteers of America Colorado has served the Five Points neighborhood, walking alongside families through times of hardship and hope. Today, many residents in the area continue to face significant challenges, with nearly 1 in 5 people living below the poverty line.
To help families build stability and brighter futures, VOA Colorado transformed its historic Mission site into the Mission Family Center (MFC), a trauma-informed, two-generation hub that supports both caregivers and youth.
Located at 29th and Lawrence, the center serves families, providing parenting classes, financial education, youth mentorship, eviction prevention support, weekly family dinners, pantry resources, and connections to critical services.
More than a service center, the Mission Family Center is a place where families find support, connection, and the opportunity to thrive.

Why the Mission Family Center Matters
Families facing poverty often experience multiple stressors at once: housing instability, food insecurity, financial strain, and the lasting impacts of trauma.
When caregivers are focused on survival, it can become harder to nurture relationships and support healthy child development. Without support, these challenges can create cycles of hardship that affect generations.
The Mission Family Center addresses these realities by supporting both caregivers and youth together, providing the tools, resources, and connections families need to strengthen their future.
Through trauma-informed care, family-centered programming, and strong community partnerships, the center helps families:
- Build stronger family relationships
- Improve financial stability
- Access essential community resources
- Reduce food insecurity
- Support youth development and resilience
By strengthening families today, the Mission Family Center is helping create healthier, more stable communities for tomorrow.
